Dear Gary:

I wanted to write and let you know what an inspiration all of you were to me last year. I weighed 230 at 5 ft 3 inches on January 2, 2005 and I now weigh 156 as of Sept 6, 2005. I feel wonderful!!!!! The show last season is what inspired me. Regular people just like me. I have three boys and they are so proud of me. Everywhere I go people want to know how I did it and I tell them that they have to learn to eat for nutrition not for pleasure or at least that is what I had to do. Plus, the great pleasure I get from going into the gym and working my butt off!! Thanks again Gary, your show helped save my life!

(Update)
I have now lost 95 pounds and weigh 135. I went for my yearly physical yesterday and my doctor was amazed!!

I first want to say.. congratulations to everyone on the first season of the biggest looser.. you all are winners in my book..
At topping out at 415 pounds 6'4 I was big.. never considered myself fat.. well to myself that is.. but I was. Waking up one morning.. tired.. stressed.. and sharp pains in my arm, didn't know what was going on.. so I went to the doctors and she told me. *rick, loose the weight or have a stroke and die!* when someone tells you that at age 32, you sit up and listen.. so that's exactly what I did. I started walking basically every night about 30 mins a day, inspired at first by Anna Nicole's *Trim spa* I tried that.. and it seemed to work for the first months or so.. I went in for a checkup 6 weeks after I had started walking and was down to 390 wow.. I lost 25 pounds in 6 weeks. doctor told me it was mostly water weight seeing that i'm not used to exercising.. but good job. Over the course of 4 months NOTHING I felt terrible and hated myself.. maybe I was just meant to be a big guy. is what I kept telling myself.. till I turned on the TV and seen the new reality show.. *The biggest looser!* that's what got me motivated, so me and my friend Jules decided to join the gym here in my town. we started working out everyday, 30 min of cardio.. and some weight training, the weight was melting off like butter on a cinn. roll. I kept a log each week on how much I lost, compared to what each team member lost, and I kept up with em pretty close.. it was my motivation! over the course of the whole show, I had dropped a total of 65 pounds, granted I wasn't killing myself like they were.. but wow down 65 pounds plus the 25 prior to that.. I felt wonderful about myself.. but when the show ended I wasn't going to give up, I decided to enter the Menomonee melt down weight loose challenge.. and to my surprise I WON and free yr membership to the gym.. and a ton of other great stuff! 3 months 30 more pounds I was down 120 pounds in just over a yrs time, that was about 5 months ago.. and today to date I no longer weight in at 415 pounds I am now 250 pounds 165 pounds I have dropped in a yr and half, mostly thanks to the show and well to subway dieting.. seeing I worked there, what the heck, and it works... don't let anyone tell you any different.. that you are just big boned.. or its in the jeans... my jeans were size 48 at my highest and now I am in a 34 inch waist. my shirts were 5XL are now a large. I just want everyone to know that it can be done and it is being done by everyday people like you and me! I have a goal and its to be 230 pounds at 6'4 with a large frame.. would fit me perfect.. and I know my new yrs eve, I will maintain it and keep it off! thanks again biggest losers.. I am keeping up with you again this yr too and keeping track of the weight lose every week along with ya.. maybe I can get that goal by the end of the season, or surpass it! thanks Gary for this site... the recipes help out too mom mmm good..

I would like to say a huge thanks to " The Biggest Loser" for giving me the inspiration to get it in gear. I really had let myself go, pretty bad. My weight had got up to 275 lbs.(before picture), I was having a great deal of health issues. I was suffering from high blood pressure, constant back spasms, and other health/weight related issues. I used to have to sleep for a couple of hours everyday when I got home from work, just no energy at all. When I saw the first episode of the Biggest Loser I felt motivated to get the weight off. So I started eating better, and begun my daily exercise program. All the while, watching my favorite Tuesday evening show and keeping the episodes saved on my TIVO. I would watch them for inspiration. One year later I am now 193 lbs. My body fat % is down to 7.5 % and I have no more high blood pressure, and the back spasms are completely gone. So are the rest of my health/weight related issues that I used to have. My energy has tripled in the last year. I now have a much better quality of life, with my family.
Thanks so much Gary, and to the blue and red teams. Your sucess on the show has changed my life forever.
Sincerely
Scott W.

Gary,
I want you to know I too have lost all of my health issues like you after being inspired by you and "The Biggest Loser" a year ago. I was on the very edge of sucide. Not kidding here. I thought about it all the time.If not for this show to get me thinking just maybe I could change things I am not sure I would still be around. My doctor had told me last September 2004 that if I did not make some changes I would not live very long. I have struggled with my weight for the last 25 years and tried everything and nothing has kept it off. The combination of the show and what you accomplished and my family's support was the ticket to get it right!

I started out at 389.6lbs last september and today I am still working on it but now weigh in at 275lbs. I work out 5-6 days a week with 3 of those being strength training days.

The episod where you see your wife and tell her your health problems are gone I have kept on my DVR and play it from time to time to motivate me!

Gary,
Thank you so much for showing us that we can take control of our lives and "Choosing to Live" By the way I am writing a book about my experience and I would like permission to mention you in this book.
